GPSU + MU and Furuno 1650/1850 Instructions

CAUTION: uploading to FURUNO will erase all waypoint/routes stored in the FURUNO. You must upload the complete file. You CANNOT update waypoints.
To Upload from PC/GPSU to FURUNO

(GPSU refers to the GPSU Program Window; FURUNO refers to the GPS Unit)

In GPSU (after you select/open the file to upload)

Options > Field Properties

Set "Waypoint ID Length" to 6.

In "SYMBOL SET" box select or type "SSFURUNO1800"

Select "Color (for GPSs with Color symbols)

Click "OK"

To setup GPSU for FURUNO

GPS > Setup

Mark FURUNO in Interface Mode

Mark COM Port to the com port on PC that you are using.

Select Baud Rate 4800

Click "OK"

FURUNO > Press MENU.

a. Press Soft Key >CONFIGURATION

b. Press Soft Key > UPLOAD/DOWNLOAD DATA

c. Next screen OVERWRITE WAYPOINT ROUTE DATA ALREADY REGISTERED. OK? (PRESS "ENTER" TO CONTINUE)

d. Press Soft Key >CONFIGURATION

GPSU >GPS > Upload All/Upload Highlighted all.

You will see a pop-up box "Confirm Upload (except hidden)"

Click "OK"

At this time you should see waypoints counting up in the GPSU status bar in bottom left.

At the end of the transfer the FURUNO screen will say UPLOADING COMPLETE PRESS "ENTER" TO CONTINUE.

To Download from the FURUNO to PC/GPSU

(GPSU refers to the GPSU Program Window; FURUNO refers to the GPS Unit)

GPSU> GPS > Download All

You will now see a pop-up box "When Waypoint download finished, do GPS|Disconnect.

Click "OK"

FURUNO > Press MENU

a) Press Soft Key >CONFIGURATION

b) Press Soft Key > UPLOAD/DOWNLOAD DATA

c) Press Soft Key > DOWNLOAD WPT/RTE TO PC

d) Next screen DOWNLOAD WAYPOINTS AND ROUTES TO PC > ENTER (To continue with download)

At this time you should see waypoints counting up in the GPSU status bar in bottom left.

At the end of the transfer the FURUNO screen will say DOWNLOAD COMPLETE PRESS "ENTER" KEY TO CONTINUE. (Press the "ENTER".

GPSU select GPS > Disconnect.

At this time the GPSU Waypoint screen should show the waypoints.

You can now manage the data with GPSU
